A LEGACY OF
WELLNESS AND ELEGANCE

IN THE HEART OF SPAIN

The Healing Waters of Carabaña

A VITAL PART OF THE ESTATE'S HERITAGE

Originating from the springs "La Salina" at Cerro de Cabeza Gorda in our property, this mineral water has rich content of sodium sulfate, which highlights its potent medicinal qualities.

It was utilized since Roman times for both internal and external applications and, historically, the water was a staple in local health practices, distributed in carafes for treating various ailments among the townspeople and shepherds.

Agua de Carabaña gained global recognition since its commercial inception by Ruperto Jacinto Chávarri in 1883, being exported to countries such as England, Portugal, Germany, France, The Filipins, Cuba, and Panama.

SALASIA, Much More Than Just a Property

A carefully curated experience that offers a blend of wellness, cultural enrichment, and sustainable practices. Until the spa facilities are fully operational we leverage the existing assets to provide a rich array of activities and experiences that cater to locals, travelers, and corporate clients.

Architectural Heritage

SALASIA proudly houses structures that are faithful rehabilitations of the original buildings constructed by Chávarri at the end of the 19th century. These buildings, meticulously restored to preserve their historical integrity, reflect the architectural elegance of the period, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern functionality. The restoration efforts have been guided by a commitment to retaining the original spirit and charm of the estate, ensuring that each structure not only serves its contemporary purpose but also tells the story of its illustrious past.

A LIVING MUSEUM

This dedication to architectural preservation makes SALASIA Estate not just a living space but a living museum, inviting visitors and residents alike to step back in time. The estate's buildings make it a unique and valuable proposition for those interested in both historical preservation and modern-day luxury living. The buildings  are protected under the status of "Patrimonio Industrial de Madrid", a designation underscoring its cultural and historical value.

TIMELESS DESIGN

The Modernist movement, which began in the late 19th century and evolved through the 20th century, influenced art, architecture, and design and emphasized a break from tradition, innovation, and the embrace of industrialization, minimalism, and the abstract.

Connection with Nature

In addition to its industrial heritage, SALASIA is also home to areas protected under the LIC Vegas Red Natura 2000 and Páramo Monte Preservado. These areas are recognized as part of the "Patrimonio Natural de Madrid," highlighting the estate’s ecological significance. One one hand, Tajuña River crosses the property, which in a region where water bodies are rare, is a true luxury. On the other hand,  the hotel and the spa circuit are located 1.5 km from the Tajuña River, nestled in the heart of a striking salt mine landscape that resembles a lunar surface, providing a uniquely desertic and tranquil environment.

UNIQUE ECOSYSTEMS AND BIODIVERSITY

The estate’s nature is as valuable as its historical buildings. This dual heritage—industrial and natural—makes SALASIA a unique and irreplaceable asset.

"SLOW MODE"

The lifestyle in this part of Madrid mirrors the Mediterranean ethos of living at a slower, more deliberate pace. This is akin to the Italian concept of "dolce far niente," which celebrates the sweetness of doing nothing. Here, life is lived with an emphasis on relaxation, savoring the moment, and taking pleasure in simple, everyday activities.

MEDITERRANEAN LIFESTYLE AND DIET
UNESCO INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE OF HUMANITY

While Madrid city is not coastal, the southeastern part of the Madrid region shares many characteristics with Mediterranean regions. The climate, marked by hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters, mirrors that of traditional Mediterranean areas, providing ideal conditions for cultivating classic Mediterranean crops such as olives, grapes, and a wide range of vegetables.

Soon: Madrid’s Only Hot Mineral Springs

LINK TO THE PAST AND CONTINUED PROMISE OF HEALTH

Madrid had once been home to several spa facilities, many of which were destroyed during the Spanish Civil War and never restored. Among the remnants of this forgotten history, we found Complejo Agua de Carabana, which had been restored but then closed for over a decade, languishing in the hands of creditors, and largely forgotten.

The estate currently hosts a spa circuit and natural salt caves, with a 30-room hotel ready for transformation.

Investment is invited to upgrade these amenities into a state-of-the-art hot spring day spa, aligning with modern luxury wellness standards.

The Personal Journey Behind SALASIA

In January 2020, as the world faced the uncertainty of a global pandemic, our lives took an unexpected turn. It was during that tumultuous time that we experienced firsthand the healing power of nature—a revelation that would later inspire our vision for SALASIA.

When we visited the state in 2021, we were immediately captivated by its potential and its rich history. It was inconceivable to us that such a paradise, with its historical significance dating back to the time of the XIX century, could remain neglected.

Today, as we embark on the revival of his estate, we feel a profound connection to Ruperto Chávarri’s entrepreneurial spirit and his dedication to innovation. Like Chávarri, we see immense potential in this estate—not just as a business venture, but as a symbol of Madrid’s rich industrial and natural heritage.

Our journey is a story of resilience, discovery, and an unwavering belief in the transformative power of nature and history. SALASIA is more than just a business venture; it’s a personal mission to create a place of peace, healing, and connection—a place in Madrid that offers to those who visit us, solace and rejuvenation.
